problem with my external HD

Hi guys ,
i noticed that my external HD freezes sometimes with windows 7
It's WD 1 TB
is it a compatibility problem ? or maybe the HD is dying ?
any ideas?

If you want to test the health of the hard drive, you could use the trial version of HD Tune Pro. Their is a free version of HD Tune, but it does not work with external drives. If HD Tune reports a problem, I believe WD has their own doagnostics tool which you would have to use in order to make a warranty claim.

I would definitely test the drive. WD should have tools on their website to do so. What is going on with the system when you notice the drive freezing? Are you having issues with any other USB devices? Are your mobo's chipset drivers installed?

didn't face any problems

how do i check that ?
I guess you could check in Device Manager, but it is more of a "you either know you did or you know you didn't" kind of thing. I would go get the latest drivers and install them anyway, just to be sure.
