Solved Problems after windows update

Can anyone help me with this problem that I am having? I just did the most recent windows 7 updates and now my computer is running extremely slow. My CPU usage/RAM meter is through the roof when I am either idle or just using the internet. I have a Toshiba laptop with enough hardware to run both WoW and Diablo 3 without any lag. However, after these updates these games are almost unplayable and I checked my internet speed and it is not a problem with the internet. I am very confused with why this is happening all of a sudden. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hum Everet what updates were they mate. One course of action is do a system restore to before them too.

Not entirely sure what updates, but they were marked as critical updates. I did also do a system restore to before the date of the updates and that was to no avail either. It was still pretty slow because it knew that it needed to update and was running worse than it is now. I looked in my processes and it has anywhere between 70-90 processes going at once, none of which I have any control over.

Some specs would be good Everett and I don't know what security you have but a couple you could run - they are free and don't take long to do would rule out some malware issues - not all but just about everyone here uses these mate.

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware! kep these for future use mate too - if you haben't got them already.

Well I am currently using Avast as a security program, do not know if that is good or bad, and I am going to defrag my hard drive and use Norton PC checker to work out all the kinks. I will also try the system updater. Hopefully something works because I am baffled as to why this happened out of the blue.

Hi,

Lets have a quick look to see if you might have system file corruptions.

1. Click Start

2. In the search box, type cmd
3. In the list that appears, right-click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator
4. In the command window that opens, type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

Report the output once it finishes.

After the Norton checkup finished it said that I have 25 startup programs. Is that a problem? Because I have disabled all programs that open up i.e. spotify, steam, and so on. So these items have to be ones that the computer is running. Right?

No mate Avast ids ok but if the machine is shop bough it more than likely has Norton installed and having two AV's on at once is not good practice.

But again mate to help you we need some specs to work off it sounds trivial but makes life a little easier. Just model number would be good

Okay so I have the results of the Norton checkup here. I will also post the other requested info when it is available. The Norton scan said that I have 25 start up programs and 178 services. What should I do about that? Or is that okay the way it is?
