If you go with the Clean Installation route. Make sure you have the Ethernet cable connected to the Ethernet port of the laptop so you could pick up the Windows Updates it needs. If you need a new Windows 7 SP1 disc you could get it from the tutorial of OEM Clean install its on Step 1. Once you have the Updates and Drivers installed from Windows Update you may go and Install the Software , AV... Office ... and such . If you're still missing drivers after Windows Update then you could install the drivers by click on the Drivers you need by double clicking on the Folder then double click on the .exe file of that driver . It should then install the driver for you.

Windows 7 is smart enough to pick up drivers it needs. But if you still need help I will be more than happy to help. Just give me a scrnshot of the Device Manager of the missing Drivers. with the "

So it's advisable not to install off the Win7 disk and add sp1 afterword? What about the IE issue when it attempts to install IE8

Maybe when that screen pops up i'll do a screenshot so you can help. Oh, i forgot, i piggyback off my brothers connection so it's all wireless.

Most people remove IE from their PC. Thanks to Google when Windows 7 was in testing . Google complained that why is IE always the default browser so Microsoft went ahead and made it so you could Uninstall Internet Explorer.

You could always install IE 10 manually . I personally use FireFox.

I would like to uninstall IE, would i do that with the add/remove programs or would that leave traces.

Do you think i can copy a fresh iso with this computer or do you think it's compromised?

The .iso file should be fine. You could use a Microsoft DVD/USB TOOL to burn the iso onto the DVD or you could right click the .iso file and choose Click Burn disc image.

I would go the USB flash drive way. 15 mins installation start to finish . DVD will take longer .

A flash drive is just like an SSD drive no spinning heads to read.

You can't uninstall IE without borking the system. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features\Turn windows feature on or off, and Uncheck IE.

OK, what about burning a new iso with sp1 or should i install off a iso that i already have without sp1 and add sp1 later?

I would rather go with the Windows 7 disc that has SP1 already . Saves you time of Installing all those updates just to get the prerequisite for SP1. You may redownload a new Windows 7 w/SP1 .iso file from gregrocker's OEM tutorial " Step 1 " and use Step 2 to burn the iso onto a DVD or USB.

Guys does this seem normal, look at the time, it went from 4 hours to 7. I have tons and tons of memory and disk space so i know it's not that.

It is a 3.3GB file and will depend on the server load and you own internet connection speed.

It's a big file. 7 hours is horribly long but may not take that long. Example, at my ISP speed I can download it in about 25 minutes or so. I think you are OK.
