What happened? SeaTools for Windows did not recognize your external drive???????

Are you ready for further experiments? Yes, I call it experiment since I hadn't done it before on a user's drive.

Since your drive is almost lost, I don't mind carrying out the experiment on your drive and see whether there is any chance of reviving it by this method.It is not going to affect your data area. If this experiment fails then we will go to the last option of taking out your drive from the enclosure and hooking it up as a second drive on a Desktop.I shall refer you to a thread where the OP successfully recovered his Read Only Bad Disk, much to our surprise.

That's right, i left it on that same night for some hours. I then after about 4 hours unplugged and plugged external back in to see but still no luck. All you see is ....

I still feel there is some hope like a miracle may happen at any time as long as we keep trying.

If at the last stage you decide we should take it out of its enclosure, could i maybe clean the whole external and use the 3tb for storage again?

Try Seatools for DOS.
That would eliminate Windows from a possible problem.
I've seen where Seatools for DOS works better than the Windows version in some cases.

I worked on a problem a while ago with a Seagate HD, contacted Seagate support, and they responded to me within 1 Business day, with a good answer, help, etc.
They explained things to me so my 2 brain cells could understand ...
I was happy

Yep, try DavidE's suggestion. SeaToolsDOS223ALL.ISO(8.45MB) burn it to CD or CDRW boot from it and check.

DavidE's suggestions have always been good. In one thread, he suggested Paragon Rescue Kit - remember DavidE ? - and the OP came back with a smiley face that it worked. I gave a cursory glance on it and even the more than two cells of my brain cannot decipher how to use that program.

I also tried to scan search for the drive again using seatools, this time it's stuck on ...usb:


Post 82 - It was stuck on SCSI.

Yes, the problem i had was solved with Seagate support.
The problem I had was different than yours, but they helped me fix it.

In the end the solution for MY problem was solved using Seatools for DOS and Seagate support looked at my logs, etc., to figure it out ...

I was happy to have a vendor support me and fix an issue ...

I burned the file to cd, and booted the laptop.

When the 3tb drive is connected, it seems to pause everything so the laptop does not function. But if i take the external cable out then the laptop starts to function again.

But i tried setting the boot priority to cd drive but nothing seems to be happening.

I just see this screen and nothing else (scrnshot below).

After a few minutes (while the cd is still inserted, and external is not connected) the laptop goes to the desktop screen.

So, you can't boot from a bootable Seatools DOS disc you created/burned ?

Or, can you boot the Seatools CD if the 3 TB is not connected ?

That pic reminds me of the what i saw of the first Lunar landing back in the 60's

If i restart the laptop with the cd inserted (with seatools burned) and the external not connected, i don't see any options. It just shows the screen that reminds you of lunar landing back in the 60's.

If the external is connected then it pauses everything thats going on within the laptop until it is disconnected.

Do you get a message to press any key to boot from the CD ?
For me this message is good for apx. 5 seconds, if i don't click something, Windows tries to boot from HD, not the CD.

I have my PC set to first try and boot from the CD/DVD optical disc...
If i don't have a bootable disc in the drive, it flies (1 second) though the prompt to boot from CD ...

I just want to ask you whether you are able to get into onetime boot menu by hitting the appropriate key as soon as your system starts booting.
