second BSOD on laptop after reinstall

Ive just had my second BSOD on the laptop.. first one was a few weeks back before reinstalling.. which l did as l usually reinstall once a year..

however earlier l had a second one, annoyingly the screen didnt stay there long enough to read.. whats more annoying is l would have posted a minidump of the crash but it seems both crashes which caused a BSOD never left any dump files behind to go through. and there is a major difference between the hardware then and now so l cant see it as really being any 3rd software l have installed and lve been testing my ram for a couple of hours and sadly picked up nothing.

just FYI the laptop in question is a Packard Bell Easynote TJ68 (320GIG HD, Intel Celeron 2GHZ cpu, and 3GB RAM), lve had little over a year and a few months now and the annoyance is that its been out of warranty for a few months now the webcam went pretty much the day the warranty ran out tho l use an external one now. that btw has been disabled however lm trying to track down the crash errors and need a little info when a minidump isnt created in locating an issue.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

There are several reasons that may prevent you from having a DMP file in the usual places.

If you control panel is not configured for small dump you probably will then find it in C:\windows and it will be called MEMORY.dmp. It will overwrite every crash.

Other reasons are if you have UAC turned off, if you have a small page file, or a page file on a different HD than the OS.

Doubtful. It is NOT ntfs.sys (where are you seeing that?)

lm assuming it was the last file accessed or something, it was at the bottom of the BSOD, while l dont have a screen shot of it, l managed to find picture similar to what the error looked like.

the only main difference would be the dump parts at the bottom saying that it failed to create a memory dump of the error, lve ran chkdsk /r which found nothing from what l see lm running chkdsk /f /r now as well just for luck and backed up my files.

would like to apologise for the double posting however l have run chkdsk /f /r as well which says the system is clean as well as sfc /scannow and found no problems.

so lm really having trouble pinning down the issue, tho l have noticed that my skype icon seems to be back on quicklaunch (it has never shown up since the reinstall for some weird reason).

now this maybe a long short however l went through my systems error logs and looked for the approx time my system went down with the BSOD to see if anything happened around the time which lead up to it.. l have attached the excerts to this post. (there were quite a few errors in the logs in a short time which seemed to be the only bunch of errors relating to network and possibly search indexing so l thought as a long shot it would be worth posting since lve been unable to produce a minidump under any of the above suggested settings) this is about all the information l have been able to gather so far.

the only file noted within the BSOD: ntfs.sys
and this is the code it notes when it says it fails to create a memory dump: 0xc0000010

Is your SSD firmware and controller driver up to date? What about your BIOS? Chipset drivers?

Ah, sorry, read the system specs and not the original post. I see a lot of network related problems; what antivirus are you running?

the problem is lve been unable to find any way to get it to create a memory dump.. it keeps on failing on creating one.. l would have grabbed one otherwise..

lm wondering if l should try putting in a direct folder location to see if that changes the failed minidump as it provides me one of the codes l posted in my last note of the issue.

The crash reports still may be useful. They log which crashes occur sometimes even if a .dmp file is not created. It is not the best information, but it can help with some debugging steps.

where would l find these reports? because the only information l have l have posted already (being the error codes and the last file noted within my previous posts.. which is the ntfs.sys file)

lve decided to run the tool to see what it comes up with, l just got the error (or notification) which l cant replecate regarding the paging when editing the dump settings (this didnt happen the last time after l visited the section)

basically it states windows might not be able to record details to help identify issues because the paging file is diabled or less than 1meg.

according to my settings it states:
Minimum allowed is: 16mb
recommended is: 4500mb
currently allocated: 3000

paging file is currently system managed (drive size is 285gb tho l dont think that matters).

however though l havent found any minidumps l'll provide the logs the tool does in the hopes it leads to possibilities and with regards to paging files.. it would be useful to know why lm suddenly getting the above notification about the paging file settings saying something about being disabled or less than 1meg.. originally it was set to manage all drives by some kinda tick box but since l only have one drive l just set it to system managed (tho this was after the problems lve been getting in the hopes that refreshing paging file settings might resolve my intermittent random Bsods but there is a possibility it might have something to do with them.

(l will note that my settings with regards to the minidump dir match what was stated before, tho it notes they fail to create annoyingly tho the current notification l got upon saving those settings when double checking was noting the paging file)

It sounds to me like your Windows installation is not working as it should. Despite the fact that sfc /scannow came back with no errors, there seems to be some Windows files that are not behaving properly. I would suggest a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html to resolve the pagefile issue.

I do not see any of your bugchecks in the logs. I think the best step right now is the repair install to see if it resolves the crashes, and if not, hopefully it at least resolves the crash report generation problems so we can determine the cause.

its a fresh install.. not even a month old, however the stranger part is the reason l reinstalled was because l received the exact same BSOD error the only things that have been installed are mouse drivers and webcam drivers (tho l do occasionally connect a X360USB PRO which is a usb tool for xbox modding but that driver isnt exactly active 90% of the time) apart from that its just the usual software (office, firefox, skype, etc and windows updates) and there is much less of it this time round.

Let's take a look at the paging file settings: Start Menu -> Right click Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings link -> Performance click Settings... -> Advanced tab -> Under virtual memory, click Change... -> Upload a screenshot of those settings.
