Hello, I hope someone can help me with an issue I've just come across.

I bought an LG BH14 Blu Ray DVD drive to replace my old LG drive. I unplugged my pc, pulled out the old unit, disconnected the two wires, connected them to my new unit, and popped it back in. Too easy, right?

After startup, I went to install the software that came with the new blu ray drive, and noticed that my secondary hard drive was missing from 'My Computer'
I have a WD drive as 'C', and a Seagate that is partitioned into E,F,G, etc.... all that was showing and accessible was the 'C' drive.
I checked Disk Management, and only 'C' and the blu ray drive are there.

I tried System Restore to no avail.... nowhere on my pc can I find, access, or even prove that my other drive even exists, even after reboot.

So, again I unplugged and popped off the cover to see if any other wires came loose, but everything is as it should be.

I've scanned the forums and seen similar problems, but not the same. This is an existing drive that has worked well for over a year, not a new install.....

I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree, so any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

oh, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit...... whatever that means ;)

Hi,

I would double-check both the power and SATA cable connectors between this 2nd disk and the motherboard. Then, when booting, enter the BIOS screen and see if this 2nd drive is listed in the BIOS.

Regards,
Golden

Thanks for the response...

I re-checked the cables again... everything looks good.

As far as the BIOS screen, while I know what that is... getting to it or knowing what to do when i get there is something different.

Mmm. From the system specifications, I can see that it has only recognised the WD disk, and not the Seagate. When booting, keep hitting the DEL key to enter the BIOS setup.

Use the arrow keys to navigate to the Main section - look for installed hard disks (something similar to this). What is listed?

Could it be that your new Blu Ray DVD drive got the same drive letter as your old secondary hard drive? Here's how to check:
1. On your desktop, right-click on "Computer," choose "Manage"
2. In the navigation tree on the left, look for "Storage" and click on "Disk Management" under that.

Do all of your drives show up there? If yes, right click on your Blu Ray DVD drive and give it a new drive letter. Attaching a screen shot showing what I'm talking about...

Thanks for the help guys...

since it was the install of the new blu ray drive that started it, I pulled it out and re-installed my old drive. Everything was fine on startup.
So i re-installed the new blu ray drive......... and everything now works fine.

I have no idea what went wrong or why, or even how this fixed it. but it works.

Thanks again for the help.
