it's good transfer 1.54 ... I think this problems because you transfer big data.

I see you transfer 5 G ... and speed to your pc begin slow

try some small size and note that

and what are you transfer from cd to pc or what

check you cd or dvd

;)

What device are you transferring to? Like a previous poster noted, it could just be a crappy flash drive with terrible performance. I have a Sandisk cruzer 4GB stick and it works very nicely...although not anywhere near as fast as my Corsair Voyager 1GB. However, when I later bought a 16GB Sandisk Cruzer, I was shocked at how terrible the write speeds were. I kinda expected it to be on par with my 4GB...but it's not even close.

Try one big file to see your max speed, not many files at once. That's why you get slow speed.

Hmm...same speeds, I haven't transfered music to my iA7 in a long while. I guess its just that slow. I've gotten used to my Flash drives performing at 20MB/sec, which I used all the time.

hi joshatdot,

u just do one thing.......

copy some very large iso file(or any file but that must be only one very large file of abt 6 to 7GB) to ur usb disk n note d time it take.

again make ur usb drive empty and then again copy the same amount of data in ur usb disk(many files n folders together of abt 6-7 GB).

u will find that d 1st one does very faster and i hope u know why this happens.

different brands have different speeds.

oh i forgoten to tell u that,
sometimes windows is also responsible for the late file transfer.......

u open ur task manager n see all d processes going on.

put off /close all d unnecessary process going on.
u can also stop most of d process for that particular time 4 transfering data.

this will surely increase ur transfer rate, i hav already tested this method.

plz reply!!

1.5 MB/second is as fast as my Cowon iAudio 7 will go.
20 MB/second is as fast as my OCZ Rally2 Turbo will go.
550 KB/second is as fast as my old old Memorex Mini Travel Drive will go.

I don't have a slow USB problem in W7..it was the iA7 that was slow (relatively speaking to my OCZ).

Should also remember the more you use any flash storage media, it slows down and it slows down on thumb drives really dramatically. Because on flash media, you cannot overwrite existing data, it must first be erased. There is another issue with erasing too... While you can read and write to 4k pages, you can only erase 512k blocks.

But Windows can only transfer files as fast as the medium its talking to will allow as well as the max though put of the connection.

I have the same problem, sandisk 16gb transfer speeds star at about 16mb/sec the slow to a max of 2.5mb/sec, no matter the file size or type, and I only bought it 6 days ago, so wear is not the prob.

It's been the worst day since yesterday (thanks Flogging Molly) so apt!
File transfer also from PC to USB also matters with the number of files it is copying to. The more, the slower. But you can install programs in your PC that will speed up file transfer. There are a lot of programs in the internet.

Do you have Microsoft Security Essentials? i had this problem since last month and fixed it as a temporary measure by excluding the USB drive or flash drive in question (Example G:\) from the real-time scan.

Yep also changed the cluster size and my through put is flying!

Was 1.5 Mb/s - now running between 20 - 50 Mb/s for a 64bit cluster size.

Remember to change the cluster size when formatting from fresh, or convert the cluster size using something like Acronis Disk Manager.
