Hi guys after reformatting my windows 7, my sony laptop came up with a weird screen problem. I have updated/re-installed graphic cards etc and even reformatted and same problem. Before the reformatting it didn't use to happen.

Basically this happens:

Right after "Starting Windows" boot screen and animation finishes, It flashes a bunch of small colored dotted distortions at the top of the screen. It only flashes this once right before the Log in Screen. No other problems occur after that.

Tried "No GUI Boot" still didnt fix it.

I assume the backlight/inverter is failing?

Thanks a lot for any help. I know its a small problem but its really annoying :/

Welcome to Seven Forums ST3PH3N. That wouldn't be a backlight problem. Does this only happen on the boot screen? Does it happen when you boot to Safe Mode?

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

If it does not happen in safe mode, it may be the GPU. But if it only happens on the boot screen, it may be an odd windows glitch, especially since you just reformatted. Try it in safe mode, and report back. Also confirm you do not see it at any other time.

I had this going on since I placed Win 7 on my machine as well (just look at my specs). Even Linux does it when it runs on my machine. And does the same on another screen as well (so it's not the screen).

Never had issues with that, it just lasts a few secs and there are no further problems I could detect afterward (when playing games or using Aero or whatever needs the GPU to work).

Still, I'm mildly curious about this.

Thanks for the reply guys. I really appreciate it.

@ bobafetthotmail wow didnt know it happens on linux as well..yea i'm really curious about the problem :/

@ A Guy, it won't because if i boot in safe mode, it skips the animated boot screen, and goes straight to a DOS screen to show the loaded the files, "Loading Windows Files..." if thats what you mean.

it goes straight to this screen.. so no boot screen

Confirmed no other problems aside from the quick flash before the login screen.

Thanks

Ahhh, my bad, only on the animation, you told me that :o When you reformatted, did you update your video card driver? Rhis could be a driver issue. I see posts of people with the same issue, but did not see a fix on any. A Guy

Yup i did everything fresh. Definitely not a driver issue. I'm assuming its a glitch with windows 7 :/ I've tried searching on this topic but honestly couldn't find a single thread with something similar to what i'm experiencing.
