I am very new to this but hope someone can help.

Yesterday my computer downloaded updates then it restarted and start up repair came up.....I have done it several times. Also tried to use a restore point but it just goes back to startup repair.

I also tried the dell safe restore and I thought it worked until it restarted and brought me right back to startup repair....

Please help.

Run the repairs from System Recovery Options preferably on the Win7 DVD or System Repair Disk.

If you need a disk it's in Step 6 of Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

If Startup Repair after several attempts fails to offer System Restore then run it from the options list. If that fails start at the top of the Troubleshooting list and work through the steps which offer everything possible to start unbootable Win7, or you can skip to the last resort steps to rescue your files and do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

If that doesn't help try this

Run this command inside System Recovery command prompt

Code:
[hl]dism.exe /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions[/hl]
