System Protection Strange

Hello guys

I needed to do a system restore this morning and when I looked and the drive options there all in an odd sort of order.I only have system protection activated on my system drive so i thought that would be at the top of the list like it always has been but its not.I dont know what order there in it makes no sense.Its not causing me any problems but just wondered how other peoples partitions and drives are ordered I always thought it was by letter but not the case here.Does anyone know how to re order them.

Mine are E:80gig
F:18gig
C:system 80gig
D:120gig

No the lists all mixed up there too wont organise into any real order.But i think its done alphabetically by name of drive in there

It may be a messed up MBR (as it holds the partition table too). See if repairing it does any good.

And to be honest, i'm not good in this field. MAy be other folks could help you. I'll do post if I find any solution though.

Its not a concern at present this installs been fine for 5 months ive only just noticed it.I just thought they would be ordered either by drive letter or size or something and with the system drive first. Mine have no order at all that I can see. In vista and xp and even previous 7 installs im sure the system drive was first then the others in drive letter order.

Yes but could be confusing when accessing partitions via cmd (Diskpart) unless you label them.

It gets stranger there in order in disk part. All I can think is the first 2 partitions listed are extended logical partitions.This is the first time ive had logical partitions as i ran out of primary.Maybee these get listed first

No used diskpart to create all the partitions pre install

I don't think it is anything to do with the order the partitions were created. A USB HDD is first in my list. That disk was added a month after I bought the laptop. It has remained the same ever since.
