Hi, I have a laptop with 2 HDD, 1 SSD used as the C drive and 1 500GB HDD used for storage. When I installed windows both drives were recognized formated and windows installed without issue. But when I loaded up my laptop the second HDD gives the message it needs to be formated. Let the formate run several times which took anywhere from 20min - 3 hours and it always failes. Ran clean all through diskpart then tried creating a new simple volume but same issue. The second HDD is not active and not partitioned. I had both HDD working with no issues before reinstalling windows.

After more tinkering I found read/write errors in the logs. Took apart the HDD and found one of the pieces wasn't attached and was just floating around the inside. Not sure how it broke as its never been dropped, might be due to age. Issue resolved
