Have read through a great deal of those with similar issues and have tried most of the general\basic fixes.

Followed the Windows Update Posting Instructions as follows:

Saved and ran SURT

SFC scan (Will not complete, stops @ 19%)

Error code 9C59 when attempting to update to IE 10 ( error 0x80070643: Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems.)

In addition, I have ran chkdsk (no issues)

My CBS.zip file is over your limit at 10.3mb, how can I reduce it?

Saw this elsewhere and applied it accordingly:

You can remove the oldest two/three CBSPersist logs from the folder, and post the remainder.

Here's the reduced CBS.zip

If I'm reading through the log correctly ... Yikes, the list of corrupt files there is ... amazing.

Hmm be very careful with IObits mate have not heard many good things about it and had a bad experience myself.
I think you will find the other scanners good.

Interesting ... will keep that in mind. Have been using their Advanced System Care for awhile without any issues (Of course that may remain to be seen with the situation I have now)

Still running the SuperAntiSpyware

During the malwarebyte fiasco I was getting conflicting fixes from their tech(s), I don't think it was ever really patched up correctly. Kind of reluctant to run it again ... should I?

Also, running SFC in safe mode prodcued the same results - Stuck at 19%

Now I don't know about Norton but if you are running a paid for Malwarebytes they might be conflicting too - my Kaspersky will not work with the paid for - only the free version.
Maybe worth disabling the Norton while you try Malwarebytes again.

The System Care is paid for, but not their Malwarebytes, running the free version.

Haven't had any conflicts with the Norton,

Nevertheless ... Have ran both the SuperAntispy and the Adwcleaner. Tried SFC again. Same result.
Will give the Malwarebytes a go and see if any of this resolves the IE 10 update.

Thanks Noel I did mention something along those lines in post #5 my experience ended in a complete reinstall to get rid of it, but I didn't want to sound too discouraging to be honest. .

Question - On the IObit stuff, is there a better uninstaller that I should use to make sure it's all removed? The irony being that it has it's own uninstaller which is of course completely suspect now. Had no idea their stuff was dangerous.

I'm going to do the repair install

Edit: Getting a bit confused on how I should go about this repair install.
I have a stock Gateway computer with the factory OEM running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1
I don't have a disk so I'm downloading the recommended SP1 ISO file.

Do I still need to make this a bootable disk? Or can I just extract it to a folder and run it form there?

Ideally, you should make it a bootable disk or a bootable USB stick - that way if anything goes wrong, you can still boot the system and do a clean install.

But I can still do this without it? ... I don't have a USB large enough or any DVD's available. I'll go buy one but just trying to follow ...

Also, the unistaller for the iObit I mentioned above ... Is it even necessary?

Thanks for all the help

Thanks Noel.

It's been awhile since I have delved into the bowels of a system, even the most basic seems to alude me. I downloaded the ISO file but don't have a seperate partition to extract it to .... getting confused on how I should go about this from the tutorials. Here's how my HDD is setup currently:

HDD snapshot.png

Also, how big would the partition need to be for the iso file? It's a 3GB file but extracted would be ... ?

:ditto:it will dig around in the registry for you and better try the paid for trial it is really good and you have it for a month you might even like to buy it LOL!!.

I have dabbled in the registry for very obstinate stuff like some Symantec (Norton) entries can be but you need to know what you are looking for.:)
