I just bought a Dell XPS 8300 that came with Windows7 Home Premium. There is a chance I will need to upgrade to Professional. Is there any issues upgrading from a Dell loaded version of Windows? I have the reinstall disc that came with the PC.

Side note... if I were to upgrade to Professional, and then some point down the line have to reformat my drive, would I be able to use my Dell disc with Home Premium and then use my upgrade to Professional again? Or would I have to buy it again?

If you are a lay user like I am then Windows 7 Home Premium is just about as good as Windows 7 Pro in my opinion. I just wasted money by going for Pro instead of Home Premium.

That said, there should generally be no issue upgrading from a Dell loaded version of Windows.

Also you can always reformat and revert back to Home Premium by using the Dell disc. But better still, please just make an image of the C drive with the Home Premium and then you can revert back to it in a jiffy. There are excellent tutorials on this Forum that teach you how to image if you are not already versed in creating and restoring them.
