Hey guys,

I've got a problem I'll go into My Documents library and I always have this weird microsoft (name is always lowercase) folder. I'll delete it and it will just keep coming back.

My Computer

OS
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Looks like it's created by the Windows Live Sign-in Assistant. Possibly when usig the live mail client or any other live application.

It gets recreated everyt ime I launch live mail.

Thanks i was expecting some weird folder, now i know he was talking about the fact that it kept reappearing being the weird part.

You're welcome.
I just exited out of live mail and deleted it, recycled it, and kept the window open. I then started live mail and it popped up. So if it's the same as mine then it's 'live' related

The normal foldler for windows live mail storage is C:\Users\<account>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail.

Have you checked to see whats inside the folder?

Mine is always empty, and like I said, I don't think it's limited to live mail but possibly to all live programs.

It may have something to do with a feature I just havent used yet or maybe a feature live mail does not use that other live programs do.

Doesn't seem like there is any need to worry about it.

I had someone a LONG time ago tell trying to explain to me how EVIL Microsoft was because he kept deleting this weird IP address from his routing table and "Microsoft" kept putting it back! He was sure that the address was used to spy on this internet traffic. Can you guess what that address was? :)

Mine contains a folder "IdentityCRL" which contains a folder "production", which is empty.
It has a history of previous versions. I don't think I've opened any "Live."' apps today.
But I have opened "Live" on the Web.

According to the windows Live Taskforce it is created by the Windows Live Sign-in Assistant. They say the "solution" is to move it to AppData\Roaming\Microsoft.

God knows!

Doesn't work for me, but the folder doesn't bother me

The folder is as others have said connected to the windows live sign-in assistant - although there appears to be very little information available.

There are some mentions of problems with the equivalent registry key but no actual explanation of the use of the folder
