Why did my computer lock

Last nigh my win 7 64 bit computer locked as i was surfing.There was no sign of any malware. i could not get into it and could not even do a sys restore. There is no password.Once i got an option to changes password but nothing to change.I am the admin and no other users. Today just as i was about to boot from an external disk it resolved itself. No virus found on two scanners


There is nothing on the site i was on when it locked, just an instagram site

hi i would check in event viewer -- critical events

back up immediately with macrium free --- , make sure ignore bad blocks is checkmarked

then run the 3 standard repair tools
sfc /scannow
chkdsk /r
and kb947821
