Personally if there is a smidge of doubt that you can or cannot fix this machine with the plethora of help available here then I would suggest finding a "friend" or seeking the help of a professional. Not all shops are out to get you and perhaps a good one can have you fixed up in a jiffy. I know I own one of those said shops. I volunteer here to help people that cannot afford a shop or want to learn how to fix and maintain their pc's themselves.
It sounds like all involved are getting frustrated. The advice offered here is geared toward everyone and may at times sound overly technical but if the steps outlined are followed then there is no real need to delve into the jargon side so much unless your wanting to learn.
I am not here to offer anything but advise so please don't think I am trying to be annoying. Just looking at this from fresh eyes. a clean install should have happened days ago if not sooner. Just my humble opinion.
Good day.
