Windows 7 not installing updates

I am having issues with installing updates on Windows 7 x64. The start menu always has "Shut down and install updates", I click to install and sometimes the system says installing and then just hangs and sometimes it says it has installed the 2 updates. However when I turn the machine back on the same "Shut down and install updates" message is there. This has been going on everyday for the best part of 6 months.

Any suggestions please?

Hello,

Try deleting the old updates and trying again, Delete Windows update files to regain hard-drive space - CNET, as sometimes this can force computer to hang.

Also try installing your updates through control panel, and see how that works.
