Going to resurrect this thread as opposed to posting a new one. Apologies.
I have an issue very similar to this individual's, and I suspect it has something to do with Windows restore not being able to figure out my SSDs or something.
Here's what happened. I was installing drivers for a new peripheral, but they were messed up and I was having trouble locating the right ones, so I decided to load from a windows restore point from about 4 hours earlier. This turned out to be a colossal mistake.
Windows rebooted me into the recovery software, but when it gave me the prompt for choosing an image/restore point for windows, I had results similar to this individual's. It simply didn't list anything. I tried looking around in there a bit, but decided that this wasn't the way to go so I exited and rebooted.
Windows boot gave me the option to do the restore or to start windows normally. The problem is that my keyboard wasn't working on this screen, and the restore was highlighted by default, so I was continually forced to go into restore, which wouldn't let me do anything.
I tried another keyboard, moving my connection to the top left usb port, etc. I tried going into bios, where the keyboard seemingly worked, and messing with some settings there. There was a "load overclock profile", and I did it because I didn't even realize my computer had that. I now realize that that was a mistake.
Now booting gave me "missing operating system." Uh oh. I went back into bios and unloaded the overclock profile. Didn't fix it. Now I couldn't even get to BIOS, as the system would halt before it got to the part where I could press delete to run it. My keyboard also wasn't being detected at all. I found and answer online that said that shutting off power/resetting the battery can fix problems with keyboards working pre-windows-boot. I shutoff power and reset CMOS (there's a button on the back of my computer to do that). Now my keyboard worked and I could get into BIOS, but windows still wouldn't load. I created a Windows 7 restore disc on another computer. Went in, saw the same results as before. Found a guide
How to Fix Windows 7 When It Fails to Boot on fixing the boot manager, which I expected was the culprit. None of the steps worked, as the restore seemingly couldn't read my main hard drive.
Downloaded MiniTools (think it's the same as partition magic). Can see the drives, there's a 100 meg partition of the first one that I suspect is from windows restore. Tried switching the other partition to "active". No effect. Switched it back. Ran the surface test in all three partitions. No errors found.
Back in Windows Restore. Ran chkdisk - the disks seem to be ok. Ran some other stuff mentioned here and got some different results. I'm going to go back now and take a bunch of screenshots. Also downloading a Windows 7 restore iso to see if a different version will help.
