Hi all, I recently bought a new laptop and its been working fine with connecting to the internet but today when I turned it on, it can't connect to my own wireless router, I also have my other laptop on and it connects just fine, so I'm thinking to be some sort of problem from the computer itself.. the last thing I remembered was that it was installing some windows update last night before I turned the computer off.. but not sure if that has anything to do with it and I don't know how to check what was updated..

some additional information i'm not sure if you guys need.. is the hp pavillion dv6t select edition, 8gb ram, intel core i5-2430.

network interface is realtek 802.1.1b/g/n wifi adapter and realtek pcie gbe family controller

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Have you checked the wireless switch at the front of the laptop is switched on?

To check which updates were installed recently, open Windows Updates and click View Updates History.

If you want to uninstall an update go to Uninstall a Program in Control Panel and click View Installed Updates.

yeah is switched on, and the recent updates doesn't have anything too alarming.. just windows malicious software removal, update for microsoft.net and security update for microsoft.net stuff

when I go to my hp network check for computer information it has
Name: xxx-hp
Local IP: xxx.0.0.1
Connection type: disconnected
signal strength: unavilable
adapter:
Mac address: unavailable

I also just downloaded the driver update for realtek after I found out I couldn't connect to the internet from my other laptop and transferred it to the problematic one, but didn't help as well..

edit: the adapter isn't listed.. does that mean is not detecting it?

got it fixed, it was a problem with security type since my windows 7 and xp can't both use the PSK security mode.. changed it to WEP and it worked fine
