Glenn said he would have a new card at my house Thursday if things go as they should.
I also ordered some LED lights, magnetic fan filters, and three more fans for the radiator.

Well I got my new video card, fans and lights installed.
So far so good.
Pictures coming soon. Maybe tomorrow.
Working on putting my 24/7 over clock back in. I forgot to save it before.

The HDMI cable plugs into this card like it should.

Looking forward to the pictures, Jack. So, are you saying your problems were due to a bad video card? If so, you are fortunate. Glad it runs well now. You've done a heck of a job. Very well done. Congratulations on a great build that will last you quite a few years.

Amazon finally got the case in stock, or sort of. Mine was delivered today. Did you post pictures here or were they in the show us your rig thread? I'd like to see them, especially the back side and see how you ran them. I can't start my build until my board gets back from RMA, if it ever does. The case looks sweet. If it's nothing else, it's the heaviest case I've ever had. It's certainly not a lan party case. Seems to be pretty much a quality case, of course I haven't built in it yet. Great job on yours though.

Yes it was the video card. Put the new card in and booted. The HDMI cable fits as it should.
Thank you for the good words.
I installed three fans on the top under the filter panel and they fit quiet well. The lid fits as it should.

Well I got more Asus problems. The damn motherboard no mater what I do doesn't see ram slots B1 and B2. The bios doesn't see the ram at default or any other setting. All ram modules work in all other slots.
Windows 7 doesn't see the ram in those slots either.
Belarc reports those slots empty.

What bios version are you running Jack? Is it the latest? If it's not then all I can suggest is flashing to the latest and if that don't work then an RMA if you can.

Sorry to hear that Jack. I agree with Paul. Even if it's the newest bios, I would try to flash it again. Other than that, I know of nothing to do except RMA it. My Maximus board is on the way back from RMA, so I can sympathize with you.

Check in the UEFI/Tools/DRAM SPD Information, see if they are all shown there or give an error message.

Yes there is lots of control over the ram in the bios. I have spent a week trying things including default (auto) and the bios doesn't see B1 or B2 slots. You can change the settings for those ram slots but it means nothing because the slots are not seen.
My bios is 4502 the newest.
I have contacted my Intel dealer and he is going to either get another board from his supplier or RMA it through Asus.
I had the same type of problem with my P6X58D-E board.
It took 3 boards to find a good one. Once a good board is found they work like a champ.
This board also kills cmos batteries.
This board also will not do this.
How to Use USB BIOS Flashback - ASUS
I had to put another older cpu on the motherboard before it would boot and update the bios and then install my new cpu with the new bios. This is the motherboard from Hell.

My next build will not be Asus anything.
I'm sitting here waiting for my new Asus Monitor to take a dive.
I saved the box it came in so I will be able to send it back when it goes AWOL.
I should of went EVGA instead.

That is well known of Jack, you simply got a last gen 2011 socket board. They were originally built for Sandy Bridge E CPU's, but with a bios flash could be used with the current gen Ivy Bridge E CPU's, the problem which you found out is that it must be done using a Sandy E CPU.
I think many Etailers are now wise to this and sell the old gen boards pre-flashed, but you got unlucky. There are also some new gen boards that have been released since the launch of Ivy E which are obviously fully compatible straight from the box.

As I said Gary, there have been a few new boards but essentially it's the same socket just a newer Gen CPU. The older boards could be made to be compatible with a bios update, how compatible remains to be seen.

Edit: It can be very confusing for the buyer on the X79 (2011) Socket.

Thanks everybody for all the information.
When I have tried everything and it still don't work as designed I don't want this board.
1. No Flash Back
2. Doesn't see all the memory
3. Eats motherboard bios battery's
4. Having to install another cpu in order to update bios

My RMA motherboard was just delivered.
Looks like a new one. I'm just waiting for the temperatures of the motherboard and ambient to balance out.
The mounting holes appear to have been used. Hopefully that means that the board was tested and passed. The stickers on the motherboard seem to indicate the new bios is installed.

Goodluck Layback ,I only update the bios if it has a major fix for the CPU or Mem controller

I don't think i even updated the Bios on this board left it as is

Is this the X79 Sabertooth Jack? I've has new boards that looked like the holes had been used. They test them at the factory but they have a caddy sort of device they mount them in.
