Punkbuster fix

2 computers with rc 7100 64 bit, call of duty 4, Cod World at War, BF2, 2142 all working no kicks. Did not need to do anything special either just update pbsetup. I got kicked out of bf2 once but it was not api function.

I was told 7127 works as well, 7137 did not work.

I am interested if 7201 64x or higher (when avaliable) only works, I'm interested in if it works right off and not fixes as fixes people are posting do not work on 64bit, you think it works but soon u will get kicked..

There is 7201, i have heard it called rc2, it doesn't work with punkbuster though, not on 64x thats for sure.

Well whatever version I got works better then build 7000 because that build explorer process kept getting killed

well.. i got bf heroes working...
its official.. bf heroes and its punkbuster is compatible with win7
i just had to run the internet explorer as admin.. thats all
basically that means install pb as admin..

like i said before.. pb problem has been solved...
just get the latest pb from net.. install it as admin...
go to ur sys32 or wowsys64 directory (whichever bit ur using)
and right click and make run the 3 pb files as admin
pbserv , pnkbsterA and pnkbstrB .. thats alll

works in all 32 bit and 64 bit.. AND FOR ALL WIN7 VERSIONS...
if u cant make this simple thing work.. shame on u

like i said before.. pb problem has been solved...
just get the latest pb from net.. install it as admin...

That may be a fix for some games but not all, so can people put a list of games they have confirmed working and what build they are using.

I agree with Grim, i am sure i tried this simple thing on battlefield 2, 2142 and 2 latest call of duties and it did not work, on 64 bit 7137 onward u get kicked, besides i have UAC off and that means everything i run is in admin mode. Run cmd.exe with UAC off u will see in top left hand corner in the box, it is running as administrator. I will try again soon, i am getting another pc during week with clean install of whatever latest windows 7 is after 7200.

the fix suggested in this thread didn't work for me either (build 7077), however i did manage to fix it myself.

the problem is the punkbuster B program randomly closes on its own, i had to open up processes, then go to services, however the B program won't be in there unless BF2 is running....so you gotta start it up and then tab out

then you find that punkbuster program and you make sure its started, then you make sure it is is allowed to interact with the desktop, THEN you have to set the recovery failures to restart the program...that way when it closes windows will automaticlly restart it for you

ding ding problem solved but people failed to mention that little problem with punkbuster closing on its own and thats why that fix doesn't work for everyone

oh and you might have to set it to manuel under the general tab and possible click the start button below that

what u mentioned.. is already given in this thread.. and many other places... currently these two fixes are available.. and whn u do thm.. it works.. i am gonna take this issue more seriously, i have tested only one game so far.. bf heroes.. i have downloaded and installed aa3.. that was giving some load error.. game froze whn u clik play.. but after attempting alot of stuufs.. i just let it load the map for like the whole night( went to sleep) after 8 hpours it was still frozen a loading the training map.. but after i killed the game..logged off and logged in..now it works fine.. only thing is the authorization for aa3.. is not working.. the servers arent able to support all the players..so cudnt check if online works or not..
after that ima gonna try playing rainbow six online.. cause i know that in vista it used to kick me for pb

u did run the pb service from syswow 64 as admin did u??
and have both pba and pb B on admin??

u cud test it from there if both a and b are working fine without error or not. try running it in compatibility mode.. win xp ...
after u do the compatibility thing.. log off and re log in.. just better.. as it wl kill pb.. and start afresh new.

i know the set as admin, enable compatibility,update punkbuster, and interact with desktop fixes have been mentioned before, but i don't recall seeing anywhere the mention of making pnkbusterB restart

i think for people with problems still, they should mention everything they have tried

but i mean go look at the very first post in this thread, it doesn't mention anywhere about setting punkbuster B to restart.....and it should. i havn't read all the posts in this thread or the other thread thats also pinned just like this one, but i don't recall seeing that fix anywhere

I since tried 7229 64bit works on call of duty 4 and i did not need to do anything for that game so its good news for battlefield 2 and 2142 that i did not test yet.

Yes if u have time try 7229, I did not get kicked and i used to get api as soon as i
connected with cod4 on 7137, i played over 3 rounds with 7229 or more, i did not get to try bf2 and 2142 or call of duty world at war, i might try next week this week too busy.

Sorry i forgot, that part of normal is to update the punkbuster by pbsetup u need to still do the update and include the games u want , i always do it, so its normal for me.
The editing of Services and compatability/admin are things i did not touch which i refer to as fixes. Also note i run with UAC off and i am runnig as admin, if u dont run with uac off maybe u need the admin tick. For me UAC off is normal too.

Your right there epson.. i too wonder why its not being updated.. the first post cud have been updated with the given fixes...

Your setting ppl on a wild goose chase by saying that.. u first tell and promote the ide of getting newer win7 .. and thn tell to downgrade cause it worked for u ?!!
man i got the basic official win7 ie build 7100.. and pb works fine in it..
and if it isnt working in urs thn its just that u didnt do right..
and plz dont advice ppl to turn off uac.. its not required. the way u mention it.. makes it feel that turning off uac is a fix.. WHICH IS NOT.
lets try to focus on the problem and illiminate it.. if done rightly.. i know its theoritical.. but wl work for all win7 versions

I clearly say if u dont run with uac off maybe u need the admin tick.
If it makes people think they need to turn off UAC or think it means its fix, then sorry no its not, it does not say that to me, its refering to the fix you posted, that part i can agree with that is running files at this time for this application as admin is important, as I don't know how people run their pc for me i did not need to test that part as MY uac is off.

I am saying that 7229 worked for me and I am reporting for people that are keen to try it on cod 4. If the guy has no luck with 7232 he has no choice but to go back to older version anyway or see if it fix itself, or try fix u posted, I am trying to help find 1 that works for people that have higher than 7200 build for those 4 games only, and yes i know 7100 RC works fine on bf2/2142 ,Cod 4 cod WAW. People need to state games they are testing too.

Sorry people if i wasted your time , i was trying to find a build that works
on 64 bit for the 3 games i mentioned cod 4, cod waw and battlefield 2
since i had some time to play around on another pc. I tried all fixes for the 3 games mentioned. Build 7229 was going well the other day.

Today i got api kick on 7229, then after reinstalling 7229, applying all the known fixes posted, i did get api error on cod 4 again and i am closing my involvment with this problem. Since RC 7100 works i am going back to that build and keep it till Retail version is avaliable.

Good luck to all , sorry if i led astray or wrong direction. In the end it was fun testing. I hope some of the fixes posted by other people work for some.
