This looks like a partitioning problem.

Please use a Partition Manager Boot Disk to have a look at your HDD partitions. If you don't find the partitions in place then create and format the required partitions and then try to install Windows 7 Pro again.

Is the HD seen in BIOS setup? Reinstall your HD, check all cable connections.

Reset the BIOS to defaults. Set the SATA controller to AHCI to try install.

Do you have an external HDD attached via USB ? I've come across this issue on my system, and the solution for me is to disconnect the external drive.

Acronis Disk Director Suite and Partition Wizard can both make a boot disk. May be there are partitioning programs that can also do the same.

As your Asus maximus iv extreme-z has a uEFI BIOS.
Try Cleaning the HD Drive, using the CLEAN command (no need to use CLEAN ALL) in Step One in this tutorial:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html
Do not partition or format.
than Reboot PC & Follow this tutorial to install Windows.

Where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? Burn another using ImgBurn at 4x speed.

I had the same problem and this is how I solved it. (Now I tried 2 different solutions at the same time and I am not sure which one actually solved the problem. So let me mention both approaches.)

1. Instead of using an automated solution like WiNToBootic to create the bootable USB thumb drive I used the most commonly used manual method.

2. I noticed that the thumb drive was formatted using FAT32. Which I reformatted using NTFS before making it bootable and copying the Windows 7 setup files into it.

Hope this will help if you are struggling with the same issue.
