Solved My.comp.wont.upgrade.to.Home.Premium....

I couldn't even uninstall the windows service pack 1 again...it failed while I was in the command prompt.

Hye guys, I found out the reason why I can't upgrade my computer to Home premium. It's because according to a technician, Netbooks are only built for the version they have. The aren't suited for upgrading, which makes them secondary. Thanks for the help though you guys.

There could be plenty of them but that isn't what I meant. I mean if they are built with home premium, then they most likely aren't built enough to upgrade to higher versions of windows. Mines is windows 7 starter, and it's only built for starter, even with the windows anytime upgrade. And an Office Depot Technician.

Over an Office Depot Tech who would probably rather sell you a new laptop, of course that may be want you want anyway.

derekimo knows what he's talking about. Before I knew anything about computers, I asked an Office Depot wroker if I could upgrade my frineds starter netbook to home premium. He said no, but I could buy a new laptop. I went on my friends laptop, entered his Home Premium product key, and he was upgraded. Don't listen to Office Depot workers.

PLEASE just do the restore to factory conditions, and then retry the upgrade.

YOU WILL GET NO FURTHER until you have done that.

If you still could not resolve the Anytime Upgrade problem. I suggest you do the following.

Anytime upgrade key will work for both 32 bit and 64 bit systems. Eventhough you have a netbook, with proper upgrade key you can make the Windows 7 starter edition to either HP, Professional or even Ultimate.

Remove the Anytime upgrade key from registry at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsAnytimeUpgrade\

Reboot the system and check your netbook is activated and validated. Now try the Anytime Upgrade Procedure again. Make sure your system is on internet while you are doing the upgrade process. Otherwise the Upgrade will fail.

I'm guessing this isn't a proper key or something. It still failed. Windows is activated. Hell, I can give you the old Product key (the one I returned) and the Win 7 Starter one just to make sure that it is genuine.
