Alright, last thing to try before considering a repair install or clean install. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html and see if you can track down a possible application or service that is causing your blue screen crashes.

I will try the clean startup option. As far as a fresh install...This hard drive has only been in the pc for maybe 6 weeks, and the issue has been occurring since the hard drive was 1st installed....Do you feel that a fresh install would be a feasible option if the clean start up is not successful?

It is possible something went wrong with the install. I also neglected to ask: are you overclocking any hardware? If you are, please stop as it can cause instability.

If you continue to have issues after another clean install, then it is probably hardware related. The best way to find out is not to install anything but a trusted CD/DVD burning software. See http://www.sevenforums.com/software/97477-dvd-burning-software.html for trusted burning software on these forums. Especially do not install the VPN software until after you try to burn something. I know you need it for work, but it would be good to find out if it is the culprit.

The only hardware that typically overclocks through software is a graphics card driver. Catalyst Control Center/AMD Vision Engine Control Center has been known to overclock without the user's permission. I do not think nVidia has the same problem, but it might be worth opening up whatever graphics card utilities you have and going through them to make sure all overclocking features are disabled.

Alright, that is good. One less stability problem to worry about. I would suggest trying the clean startup, and see if you can burn a disc.

I tried to burn with a clean startup, and it made it all the way to the finalizing disc portion (which is farther than ever, it normally crashes when the drive is switching from read to write) but then it crashed. So still crashing, even with clean startup

Can you post the .dmp file for the latest crash? It may be different since the circumstances were different.

Would you be willing to uninstall the VPN software just for a short time and see if you can burn with it uninstalled? Or is that not an option since you need it for work?

Here is what I suggest. Make a system image of your computer as it currently is so you can revert back to it. I recommend using Macrium. A good tutorial is http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/73828-imaging-free-macrium.html. Make sure you can access the backup after you've made it. You'll have to burn the discs on another computer and then run them on your computer to see if you can access the backups on the external drive.

If Macrium is not feasible, you can create an image backup through Windows to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html?ltr=B. Then, restore the factory image by turning off your computer, holding the zero key, turning the computer on while still holding the zero key, and entering the factory recovery options. See if you can burn once the computer is reset to the state when you first bought it.

It looks like both of those options require that I have an external HD to back up to. I don't have an external HD only have DVD's/CD's to back up onto?

Am I reading the instructions on how to use these products incorrectly?

Yes, both options require an external drive to backup on. You can use DVDs, but they are not very reliable.

By very reliable, do you mean they are more prone to failing? Best Buy has some decent looking ones for under $100, I may just end up buying one, and transferring data that way
