Computer Crashed..System Recovery Failing

my computer crashed and I was trying to do a system recovery by pressying f11 but it then says "no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"

I have a compaq. the model number CQ61z-400

Have you gone to the HP/Compaq website and followed some ofthe triubleshooting ideas for hard drive errors?
