Computer freezing randomly for half a second!

I cannot make that call Hauk but going on past threads essenbe especially knows what is what and if he says go ahead with the Furmark then I would do so.

Speluncus, If you are getting those temps during gaming, I don't think I would try Furmark. Furmark will run your card harder and the temps will go higher than in any game you will play. Have you cleaned the dust out of your case, the card and the fans? What are your CPU temps during Gaming?

While playing a game called Diablo 3 the temps are around 70C. There's loads of particle effects, but I don't believe it should be that big of an issue. I'll sit down and clean the case properly tomorrow morning, and see if it helps.

Speluncus, first, 70C is not that hot for a graphics card, but more importantly, if by particle effects, you mean artifacting, that is a problem. It basically means the card is not working properly. And, it is not because of heat. If it cannot be resolved quickly with drivers, I would be contacting Asus technical support for an RMA.

I got rid of any dust in the case, but as soon as I began using it the temp shot trough the roof again.
From 60C to the high 80C's.
Something else I've noticed is that the GPU usage can spike a lot at times:



I have been googling around, and it seems like Diablo 3 have a bad habit of overheating GPU's. I'll try out some other games to see if it seriously is, as it seems very unlikely.

GPU spiking in games is not uncommon. Some scenes are harder to render than others. You should not be seeing those temps, although that game causes a lot of people problems. I don't play that one. so can't help you much with it. Try turning down the settings and see if that helps.

Also, try playing a few other games. I would try a few that are demanding on the card, but not quite as much as Diablo3. If you still get high temps and artifacting, I would be on the phone with Asus. You should not be having artifacting and those temps. the temps are not high enough to be a serious problem, but higher than I would like mine. I read some reviews and apparently there were a few of them saying that it ran really hot. I changed some settings in Diablo 3 and for some reason it hasn't touched 70C yet. It sits at 65C pretty much constantly now.
I'll test some other games in the morning

There are a lot of people who have had problems with that game, for a lot of reasons. I don't play it, but it is one of the games that causes a lot of people problems. The biggest thing that would concern me is the artifacts. It just should not be doing that. Heat can cause a card to artifact, but most any card can take the temps you say you got to, even though I would not want to run it that hot. To me, the artifacting is more of a concern than the temps.

particle effects that are not supposed to be there, are artifacts. So, I was just going by that. That was from post # 43 I believe. That was why I said artifacts. If you are not getting them, OK. If you are, it is a problem.

I do not get particle effects that are not intended to be in the game, so that isn't the issue.

Well so I figured I'd just get a new PSU, case and other good stuff to improve my air-flow or get enough room for a water-cooled system or other hardware. This will take a good while, since I don't have a job, and I'm a student. I do get some money each month because of the stipend though so it won't be a problem, but it'll take a month to get a new PSU at least

The problem isn't solved, and I'd like to reply when it is, but I fear it will be a long time until I'll be able to post that reply, so do whatever you want with this thread! I'll find it when needed

That's no problem. Just post back here and I will be notified whenever you post. In the meantime, please monitor your GPU and CPU temps and let me know what they are, at idle, while doing whatever you do and while gaming. Any error messages, I would like to know the error and exact wording if possible. If you have any more BSODs, run the http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html and upload them here. Don't worry about the time issue. We are open 24/7 and I will always answer. It may just take a little while, but I will answer. If not just leave me a VM or PM.

I took some pictures like you asked for showing the temperatures.

While playing Diablo III :

While using the internet:

Temperature spike out of nowhere: (!)


As you can see on the min and max temps the idle temp is 30 and the weird spike is at 96. My PC did this earlier today too, and jumped to 97 degrees C.
I double checked if there were was any dust in the case clogging a GPU fan or something, but it was clean. Hard to tell, but I think it actually might be the game causing the spikes since I believe I've never gotten a spike like that when not playing it.
