I take it you mean 8TB drive ? I've only used 2TB HDDs, but AFAIK there's a 2TB limit on mbr. I think you have to use GPT format for v large partitions.

If I'm looking at the correct XFX 650W modular psu, it comes with a 4 * sata cable and two 2 * sata cables. I'm a bit puzzled as to why you have bought splitters - how many HDDs have you got installed ?

There's 3 Hard drives now , I thought 2 plug sata cable which was lying in front of the extra hard drive container in the bottom of the case was being used for fans or whatever , its not it just goes to the Power and is spare . It's been a while since I built this PC . Until I posted this question , I honestly did not know you put splitters in Sata cables , or I wouldn't have bothered any of you . I told you I'm not very techy minded . There are 4 bays for hard drives etc 1 has Windows 7 , the other Windows 10 , the new one is for storage . There is also an SSD Drive fitted in the bottom 4th Drive bay . I think I mentioned somewhere the bloke who was reviewing the case told you there was a space for a SSD Drive ( I posted a pic ) which is too late now . I just thought the SSD Drive would have gone in the Drive bay space .

I think the Disk management or new simple volume said something about some versions of windows might not recognise GPT that's why I left it at MBR , if I format it in GPT will it show the full 8GB . Thank you .

I think the GPT warning refers to booting the OS. For data drives you can use gpt.

re SSD - I recently bought one, and they're much smaller than a HDD - so I bought an adapter caddy to mount the SSD in a regular bay. Unfortunately, the holes didn't quite align but there were some holes of the correct dimensions on the floor of the case, so I mounted the SSD there.

edit - just googled GPT, and apparently the max disk size is 9.4 Zettabytes, so you should be ok with 8TB

Using Windows, you won't be able to use more than 2.2 TB of that 8 TB drive UNLESS you format it as GPT.

Regardless of your partitioning scheme.

Regardless of whether or not you want to put an operating system on it.

If you format it as GPT, you then can make multiple partitions to split up the 8 TB, but whether or not that is sensible is another question. You may be better off just using 1 partition for the entire drive and split it up with folders rather than partitions.

Mornin all , last post then I'm going to mark this sorted . When I saw the cable and the sata adapter hanging in the computer case I genuinely thought it was to power other sata cables . The only sata cables I have dealt with are the sata data and power leads which fit from hard drive to plugs on your motherboard or whatever . Until I saw the video on YouTube about the PC case review I would not have known what the sata adapter lead was for , thank you for anyone who helped me its very much appreciated . ( I'll watch a video on youtube to set the SSD Drive up ) . THANK YOU .
