Hi,

I currently bought a Logitech Wave Keyboard Newegg.com - Logitech 920-000325 Black 102 Normal Keys 14 Function Keys USB Wired Ergonomic Wave Keyboard for 3 days as a replacement to my Logitech Wireless MK710 Combo Newegg.com - Logitech MK710 Black 7 Function Keys RF Wireless Ergonomic Desktop

I really like my wireless combo in terms of keyboard feel (slim keys/straight keys) and mouse feel but for casual gaming the wireless combo does not cut it. Thus I bought the wired Wave keyboard to solve my problems but I somehow do not like the feel of the keyboard. I Wave keyboard is much better for gaming ad the big palm rest is definitely a plus but the keys a not spaced so well and the slight curve makes my type the wrong keys constantly. I've only had the Wave keyboard for 3 days making me think I'm maybe not use to the feel yet but at this rate I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable with the Wave keyboard despite high praised reviews.

I'm think of returning the Wave keyboard in replacement for this Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard: Newegg.com - Microsoft J93-00001 Black 104 Normal Keys 21 Function Keys USB Wired Slim Digital Media Keyboard 3000 despite the fact that the Microsoft keyboard does not have a cushion palm rest like my current Logitech wireless and the Wave. However I like the keys on the Microsoft keyboard (straight and slim) like my current wireless MK710 and the media keys on the Microsoft one seems better than the Logitech Wave (better placed).

I'm not looking for a gaming keyboard cause it'll be a waste on money for me as I am a full-time desktop user (typing and use media keys a lot) and only a casual gamer.

All thoughts welcome.

:p

I'm a big fan of MicroSoft keyboards and mouses(mice?).

I have 3 PC's - one for gaming, one for internet and media, and another for my digital audio workstation. All home built, and working just fine, thank you :) I've built over 15 PC's in 20 years, from scratch, and upgraded components more times than I can remember.

Wheneven I've tried a Logitech, eventually, the software, or the hardware lets me down. I always end up replacing them with MicroSoft hardware.

It's solid hardware and it works.

But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

PS. Personally, my favorite is the wireless 6000 combo.

And now for a counterpoint opinion. I like Logitech and find that the key stroke and mouse feel on Microsoft keyboards and mice are sub par. I agree that wireless is too slow for gaming and I've gone with the Logitech illuminated keyboard and couldn't be happier. Someday I will move to a wired mouse but I think I will miss the freedom a bit.

If this is what you taking about Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 then that's a sexy combo.

Too bad they do not make a wired version of that keyboard that's was top on my list before I got the Logitech MK710 wireless combo but I chose Logitech because I find their mouse precsion/clicks/scrolling better than Microsoft. However, I do however prefer Microsoft keyboards, I use to have this Microsoft combo Wireless Desktop 3000 before I gave it away to my cousin because I couldn't use the mouse scroll in FPS games and some application. But if you look at the keyboard it's basically the same one as the wired Microsoft keyboard http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=083 I want to get except the wired version has less of a palm rest, I liked they keyboard. I also wouldn't mind my Logitech MK700 keyboard in a wired version either but they don't make it wired.

Edit: My all time favorite keyboard is this http://www.pchardware.co.uk/microsoftdigitalprokeyboard.php. Lasted 5 years for me and I just recently donated it to Goodwill in working condition. I would get the same keyboard but compared to recent keyboards, it's very loud and has problems with ghosting and probably has not drivers for Windows 7-64bit (made in 2003). I used the keyboard along side a Logitech MX500 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-930763-0403-MX500-Optical-Mouse/dp/B00006HZ0K which also lasted 5 years and again recently donated to Goodwill on working condition. The Logitech Wave reminds me a lot of keyboard above but the keys are not as well spaced and the curve makes is more difficult to type in my case but it's a lot quieter and had Windows 7 64-bit drivers.

I've decided to keep to Logitech Wave keyboard. Reason being the I chose the Logitech Wave in the first place so it closely match my Logitech M500 mouse also I like the palm rest too much and the fact I only have to use one software for drivers (SetPoint takes care of both Logitech mouse/keyboard) is also a plus; hopefully with time I will get use to the keyboard layout. Besides, I really hate retuning things unless I have no choice like DOA.

Thanks for all the input guys, really appreciate it; I'm getting too close on finally completing my configuration.

It's called the Illuminated keyboard. It's wicked cool, slim with keys that are silent except for a little click from the space bar. Board reminds most of a Mac or full size laptop keyboard and the keys have 4 illumination settings. Typing in the dark is a pleasure and the speed and accuracy increase is real on this board !

I personally like Logitech products. All of my mice and keyboards are Logitechs. I've built about 200 PC's in the past 16 years, buying all the parts individually, mobo, cpu, ram, etc... and putting them into a case and loading the software. I don't have the manufacturing equipment and skill to build my machines from scratch. :D

I did have one wireless MS keyboard that I had been using on my HTPC but I just replaced that a few hours ago with a Logitech wireless keyboard.
3ft range wasn't cutting it for an HTPC.

I will say that I used to use MS mice and KB's exclusively up until 4 or 5 years ago, MS Internet Keyboard Pro and an MS Intellimouse (I think that is what it was called). I then bought a Logitech G15 and Logitech MX1000 and have been 100% Logitech since.

I happened to have that Wireless MS KB since I gave my sister a Logitech Bluetooth Mouse/KB combo she gave me the MS KB.

It basically boils down to what feels good to you. I really like my V2 G15 , G13 Game Keypad, and Performance MX mouse, they just perform great and feel good to me.

oh, you should check out this nifty new KB from Logitech. It's solar powered and very slim and stylish, although just a tad bit on the expensive side, $80.

Nemix77,
Au contraire on the palm rest. It's got one and as it's so slim and low to the desk it doesn't need a big padded rest. You need a padded rest because most keyboards are an inch plus off the desk. Like any change it takes a little time to adjust but I've never typed so easily and with such speed and accuracy. And believe me I need this help !

So true, all my keyboard are pivot 1" off my keyboard try. I cannot type with the keyboard laying perfectly straight, with the Logitech Wave I sometimes go 1.5" (the second pivot setting).

Anyhow, that's a really neat keyboard. If I had the money and truly have interest for keyboards, I'm not sure which if the 4 keyboards I would buy.

I actually have both a Logitech and Microsoft KB/Mouse combo.....

Microsoft combo - Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 - The Microsoft keyboard is sexy, but sit a little to low to the desk. It feels ackward using it after I've been using the Logitech Wave all day because of it's low profile. The mouse is meh.

Logitech - Wireless Keyboard K350 with this Logitech Mouse - Performance Mouse MX

With my Logitech combo, I love the keyboard as it sits a little higher than Microsofts, though I do like the look of their keyboard.

With regards to the Logitech mouse, it's all about functionality and MX Performance has it, the one accompanying the Desktop 6000 is basic.

Anyways for years all I ever used were Microsoft's keyboards.... until Logitech released their Wave keyboard. One the mouse side of the house all I've ever used were Logitech.

With that I would say Microsoft for Keyboards (unless you get the Logitech Wave), Logitech for Mice.

My two cents.
