How can I get my laptop to recognize my usb drives again?

Hi

I have a toshiba l655 laptop and I have a swivel traveldrive usb. For some strange reason, none of my usb

ports are recognizing my swivel usb. I did a boottime scan and the volume is clean. I did a sfc/scannow

check and it came out fine. There are no intergrity violations. The keyboard and mouse are working fine.

I originally had a code 28 but after jumbling some stuff around, that error seems to be gone. Now when I

go to "other devices" and "swivel", there's a grey question mark and the "No drivers are installed for this

device" error. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello and welcome confusedgal now when you plug in the drive do you get a message pop up saying the drive software is being installed??

Seeing as you have done the sfc I personally would run a chkdsk too
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html I always use Option 2 method but the choice is yours of course and I usually use the /f and /r switches with the chkdsk command.

Do you have another computer you can plug the drive into and see if it's recognized on another computer? It may be a problem with the drive itself.
