Latest Internet Explorer 9 Release

Actually, you can use the 64-bit version as if it is default. First delete the IE icon on the task bar. The drag and drop the IE 64-bit icon from the start menu (you will probably have to dig into "All programs") to the task bar.

This only makes it default by user choice and doesnt make all programs open in 64bit mode

Exactly, for example if you click a link in an e-mail the 32 bit version is launched.

I thin the idea is to keep it lean - it's a marvellous piece of work..

maybe it'll appear as an add-in at some point.. (?)

hope so, 'cos I like it fast and responsive - not checking and re-checking stuff all the time..:geek:

I don't understand the advantage of keeping it 'lean' --- Isn't the point of having an advanced app to have additional (and better performing) functions? So having it 'lean' means fewer functions. To me that is completely illogical and counter productive!

Hello Danny,

Sorry, but that feature violates forum rule #19, and is not allowed.

Isn't rule #19 about 'ad blocking' rather than Tracking protection which is totally different :sarc:

It would be different if IE9's tracking protection didn't go completely over the top and just block all the common ad networks (all that we use).

IE9rc: can't selecting text

I'm having problem selecting text in IE9rc. I also had the same problem with the previous IE9 beta. My cursor is stuck on hand icon, rather text cursor, which prevents me from selecting any text. I tried the same site on Firefox and I was able to select text with no problem. Any suggestion? I'm running Window 7.

IE9 RC x64 crashes before it can load.

Downloaded the update through the Contorl Panel --- Windows Updates.

IE9 RC x32 works fine
IE9 RC x64 won't even load and crashes almost immediately.

This update was from IE9 Beta x32 and x64 both of which worked fine.

On my other W7 HP x64 computer I had previously downloaded IE9 RC from this website.

x32 works fine
x64 comes up on the display and remains frozen for a while while the blue ball goes around and around and then IE9 RC x64 crashes.

Strange that IE9 Beta x64 worked okay as of yesterday yet IE9 RC x64 crashes.

IE8 x64 had also loaded and worked okay when it was on the computers

I think the installer it uses when you have it do the suto one does not work right. I have 64 bit. But when I did the suto one it did 32 bit. Then it said it did not install right. So I went and did the 64 bit one by it self. It installed fine. But it did not work. I think it is the installation it self that needs some work. I would really like the program though. I think that a warning or something should be put next to it on the list. Seems like a lot of people have problems with it.

It was a known issue with forum boards, the dev fixed it in v1.5 :)

Speckie is crashed my IE 9 64 bit when I enabled the plugin. Opened OK after that though? I also get an "Exception raised! Automation server can't create object" message when I try to run it in IE 9 64 bit. Seems to work OK in 32 bit IE 9 though, its underlining misspelled words. This time I tried the auto installer, the first time i used the individual installers.

Shouldn't it just update IE9 with windows update? If not please be kind enough to tell me exactly how I would go about updating IE9. I know I could lok up the newest version and download it. But that sounds a little overboard for a simple update. I amnot 100% sure. But I think windows updated updated IE9 for me the other times. I do not remember having to download it other than switching from IE8.
