Basically I messed with the UAC settings denying myself access to the C: The only way I could gain access to this drive was to open an admin account in safe mode as I could elevate cmds in my user ac eventhough I was the administrator.

Once I went into the registry to set the UAC to 0 from the admin ac I was able to gain access to the C:. I can get rid of it if you want me to. I just thought if I make silly mistakes in the admin ac it won't affect the user account. I could be wrong, its all so confusing seeing permissions for SYSTEM, Administrators, Users who are also Administrators.

I really do think your best option is going to be to back up all data to external media, and use teh system to get you Recoveryr install back to default.#You've committed so many of teh Seven Deadly Sins that we have no idea where you are at present.

I agree with Noel.

Backup all of the data dear to your heart.
Restore/recover your system.

Did you make the ASUS (not Microsoft) Recovery Discs?

Do you still have the ASUS recovery partition on your computer?

Consult the ASUS documentation for your computer.

What is "that"?

You never answered the questions I asked and very evidently, you did not consult the ASUS documentation.

I wish you happy reading.

We can not do your work for you.

Sorry karlsnooks didn't see your message. I don't have any documentation with this netbook. I'll see what I can find on the net and get back to you. In the meantime, i'll backup pics and files. I cannot Restore as it doesn't give me that option. I don't know how to make an ASUS Recovery disc. All I know is that I have a c: and a d: I'll check the ASUS docs on the net. I certainly wouldn't ask you to do the work for me, so please don't think i've joined this forum for you guys to do the job for me as I am very capable.

You help us to help you by:
Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Ø Manufacturer and Model OR Custom build.
Ø ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

With Speccy, you can select with your mouse/touchpad info from the display
and paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

In other words, you've never bothered to RTFM.
Do so - NOW.
