Solved USB 3.0 ports not working on Gateway SX2370

USB 3.0 ports not working BUT 2.0 ports work ok on Gateway SX2370. Am running Win 7 -64 bit Home Premium. Do not have orig install or repair disks. Bought used with jury-rigged hard-drive and 32 bit operating system. Installed win 7 -64 on new hard-drive and updated to latest BIOS. USB is enabled on BIOS. When I run Windows Device Manager for the USB controllers, my AMD PCI to USB Open Host Controller Device status reads: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Also, OTHER DEVICES has no drivers for the Ethernet Controller, USB Controller, and Unknown Device and when I attempt a driver update, it cannot find drivers on my machine or on the internet. GATEWAY does not have any downloadable drivers on their current website when I look up this particular machine on their official website. I DO, however, have a similar machine with the same motherboard, video card, and OS that works, at my disposal. Any suggestions as to where to start, short of making it my new back-porch footrest, would be appreciated. Thanks

Also ran AMD driver Autodetect and it says I have the latest drivers installed for the graphics hardware : 0x1002 - 0x964A PCIE

dowloaded and installed the ethernet driver, am waiting on chipset driver to download +- 15 min

I think you may need the AMD USB 3.0 host controller driver ...

ALL downloaded and installed, 3.0 ports working now, will test later for 3.0 speed, but hardware config now shows 3.0 controllers instead of unknown hardware. I can now make a system restore disk and system image disks THANK YOU so much ... from a humble newbie to this forum.

Same Problem with USB 3 ports

I recently purchased a Seagate Backup Plus Portable 2TB HD. It is USB 3.0/2.0 and only is recognized by 2.0 ports. I read this entire thread and when I tried to go to:

I am unable to find any useful information or downloads that apply. I have the exact same desktop as indicated above. Any further help is greatly appreciated!

Sure appreciate finding someone who knows what they're doing...thanks a million! That seems to have done it. Is there anything else I need to look out for since I am running W7 and this chipset is W8? I see a folder on my desktop "AMD USB 3.0 hub and host controller driver" that I am unfamiliar with. Do I need to do anything with that? Inside is an application "hmua01ww". Please let me know.

I have called Seagate 3 times on this with no resolution. To be fair, it was the last call I made to them yesterday that got me on the correct path. They sent me several links to possible fixes which got me thinking in the right hemisphere, ultimately leading to a Google search and finding your thread. Again. I am very grateful for your help!

Most welcome ... Go to the Device Manager look under USB does the USB 3 show there ? ...

Yes, they both do now. Prior to this they were both under Other Devices and had the yellow marking for trouble. Under properties tab it said "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)".
