Solved Win 7 Home Prem X64 Update:KB2676521,KB2813170,80004002

Dave, this is essentially a brand new laptop. I typically have it connected to an ASUS dock and leave it setting on its edge. Display is off as I use an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. I am not a heavy user. Wonder if this laptop with an SSD drive sitting on its back edge is an issue??? I dont have ASUS AI installed so would not have any idea how to change temp or change the clock speed for that matter.

Leaning toward Repair Install when i have more time.

Perhaps a Repair Install may be the best course.

Are you still experiencing crashes, how is the computer now?

Dave, i was never experiencing crashes. Only the one time during this ordeal of attempting to fix the 80004002 update error. My ASUS laptop runs fine and i have absolutely no other problems other than Windows will not update.

The system appears overclocked? Is this OEM set or did you overclock?
Please return to stock settings.

Just to sound off on this one - the OP has an Intel processor with Turbo Boost supported and enabled, which means that his processor can ''overclock'' itself above its *rated* frequency in short bursts. The max turbo frequency

Max turbo frequency is the Maximum Clock Speed the processor is capable of operating at using Intel® Turbo Boost Technology

of his particular processor model is 3 GHz so in that respect it is normal and on stock settings.

A BSOD is definitely considered a "crash"

Finally getting around to doing the Repair Install. It worked and all seems to be working fine.
