Won't back up to disc

Unfortunately there is no silver bullet. There are a lot of permission levels in the system all the way up to the Trusted Installer and every level needs it's own strategy to get the right permission. Here are a few articles to get you started, but there is a lot more to it.

I suggest you come back here the day you run into a permission problem and are not able to resolve it yourself. In the meantime, you can open any file as long as the system is prompting you and you can make headway with "Continue" or "Allow" or alike. It will not jump into your face.
