2 gig = ok 4 gig = BSOD

Hi dave

Hope your still online,

I have just done as asked but there is a small problem

Under DRAM Frequency the options are

DDR3 666Mhz
DDR3 887Mhz
DDR3 999Mhz
DDR3 1332Mhz

But not 160Mhz

I have currently gone with 1332mhz witht the other settings as you sudjested.

Any ideas why that is have I missed a different option to up this more?

Mike

Did you change the FSB strap to North Bridge [auto] - change it to [400MHz] first?

The 1.9v will be too high for the 1332MHz setting, try

DRAM Timing control [auto] - change to [manual] and then change first 4 numbers to:
[7]
[7]
[7]
[24]

Memory Over Voltage [auto] - change to 1.5v, if the system is not stable, bump to 1.55v.

This is your stable settings from before trying the 1600MHz OC.

You can set everything back to the earlier settings, when it was stable.

If you want to get the RAM to 1600MHz, you may need to increase the FSB which will OC your CPU.
If your FSB was set to 1600 then you will need to change the multiplier to maybe 7, this would give you 400x7= 2.8 Ghz for the CPU. The FSB would let the RAM go up to 1600MHz.

To OC the CPU make sure you have good cooling. This mild OC should be ok with the stock cooler.

It's better to OC the RAM without OC'ing the CPU.

i don't mean to assume you an amateur, but are you using compatible memory? The way you posted I'm thinking you have 2gigs in your computer from when purchased (or built but this would make the type of error I'm inquiring about less likely), and perhaps got more memory from an old pc or the store. Did you check to make sure it is compatible with your motherboard; i.e. proper number of pins and such?

Not being funny but really you should read the whole thread before going over old ground :p

Mike

And dave yes I did change to 400mhz first but the option still aint there?!

Urm also I have been running with your first sudjestion fine for a cuple of hours worth of gaming should I go ahead and change to your above settings of leave as is?

I just edited the previous post.

Re-set to the first suggestion settings.

I'll look into the options on your board, you may have to OC the CPU to get the RAM to run at 1600.

Ok,

So I am sure (safe than sorry :))

I currently have

FSB Strap to Nbridge 400mhz

Dram Freq 1332mhz

Dram Timing 8-8-8-28

mem over voltage 1.9volts

Is this what you want me to leave it at?

Just so I am sure was a little lost from the last couple of posts is all.....

The 1.9v will be too high for the 1332MHz setting, re-set them to:

FSB Strap to Nbridge set to [Auto] or [333mhz].

You can, if you want to, set everything back to the earlier settings, when it was stable.

What is 'MEM. OC Charger' set to, [Auto], [Disabled] or [Enabled]?

I browsed over this thread. I MAY have missed it but you may want to go to the "Mainboard" tab on CPU-Z and see what year you installed BIOS was made. You may simply need a BIOS update on your motherboard. It's not too hared to do. I have videos on it under the same user on YouTube for Gigabyte boards. Asus boards are about the same to flash. You might look into it.

If that does not work, you need to bring your memory multiplier up so the RAM is running at 1600Mhz and get the voltage to whatever it's rated at.

Best of luck, i will be trying to find a virtual BIOS of this board so I can help you.
