June 9th 2015 Windows Updates

Anyone have this bug with trustedinstaller after updating? Basically it stays at 100k memory usage permanently until I restart windows 7 again. really annoying.

Gonna have to switch to 10 eventually because microsoft has screwed 7 now.

Windows 7 is working for everyone else so the problem is with your machine. I had the same memory leak several times now and fixing it isn't easy.

Basically what I did was:

Fixed problems eith a faulty .NET Framework installation - no option to repair was available.
Switched to default hosts file (during the fix)
Reset IE completely.
Run an MS Fixit in aggressive mode and rebooted.
Ran some commands to fix and reset Windows Updates components.
Force deleted anything that wouldn't delete.
Force reinstalled Windows Update agent.
Rebooted.
Reconfigured Windows Update settings.
Remove any existing Windows 10 Upgrade updates.
Check for updates (but not download or install them). Hide Windows 10 Upgrade updates.
Download and install the other important updates.
Reboot.
Check again that no Windows 10 Upgrade updates got installed.
One did - so I removed it again.
Reboot.
Check for updates - note: te first time you see svchost (netsvcs) and trusted installer using a fairly high amount of RAM but after the initial file integrity checks are finished normal RAM usage is resumed.

I'm just sat here manually downloading missing security updates to add to my WIM and thinking exactly the same thing as you have just said !

I don't even want to turn WU back on with my work system just in case they ninja it again... I am testing a WIM with all the security updates added on another system though and enabling WU and it does seem to be behaving, the really strange thing is though only 2 of the Win10 related updates were in the download list and not all of them as I would have expected.

Well it's been said so many times before: Keep regular system image backups going back at least 6 months and problems can be avoided.
