Should save to the clipboard so you can click in Notepad and Paste, then save it and attach to post as file. Or just paste it into Reply box if it isn't too big.

The clipboard is invisible. What you Copy is stored there until you Paste it, from rightclick Context Menu.

You can open a Notepad by typing it in Start Search box.

Position cursor in the big open editing area.

CTRL +V key combo

that will paste whatever is in the clipboard in to that open area.

Now you can save the file and attach to your next post.

Use Speccy - System Information - Free Download
and/or SIW to gather info for filling in the blanks.

Do me a favor. Please add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.

Provide full windows version info, such as provided by Speccy:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

Hello all,
right, firstly I am not ignoring what you have all put.

1. My notepad is empty - not a sausage in it.
2. I am trying to up date my system specs - but despite Googling for different things asked for on the list, I am not getting a clear method of finding all the information.

Also, system model, is this different from Lap top model number? because in my system information it says 0679 but the model number is G560

And yes you have got a right one here!!!!!1

I downloaded Speccy, I can see the information on the different items, but do not know what is relevant, do I copy out the whole lot???

Solution obtained by googling the text of the error. When it returned no results, I deleted the volume ID specific to your machine, which then returned dozens of results. This is most promising: Event ID 12348

Try this now with the rest of the repeat errors appearing in the two key logs in my troubleshooting steps and we will help you Google them to resolution.

You are obviously spending some time on my problem and I am very grateful to you, but sometimes I just do not understand what you are asking me to do.
If I said to you k2tog, ytb p35st gst 10 rows, bind off, I am sure you would scratch your head, but to me as a knitted toy designer it's simple.
I honestly am trying, I google things I do not understand - then do not understand the answers I find, it is very frustrating, especially when you know someone is taking the time to help.

So, after having said that, what am I supposed to be doing with the rest of the repeat errors??

Sorry, Sandy. It reads really simple to me because of familiarity, but it's how it reads to you that counts.

First follow the steps in the tutorial at blue link to resolve Event ID 12348 which is shutting down the Volume Shadow Service which saves System Restore Points and has other important functions.

Then google the key text of other repeat errors to see what they return. The point I was trying to make is that if in the middle of an error text it refers to a file that is specific to your machine, like c:\User\Sandy\Appdata\etc. then you may need to edit it out of the google search if it returns no results.

If you want to post repeat errors up with Notepad as you did earlier then we can look at them for you.

We like to help Users in their threads so they and other will learn, but if we hit a brick wall at some point in the future I will gladly connect via TeamViewer to go over it for you with a fine tooth comb. So despair not, and ask all the questions needed.

I just went back over the thread and can't find that we have run SFC -SCANNOW Command so please run that now from an Elevated Command Prompt.

What are the exact symptoms as they exist now?

Hello, no apologies needed, we all have expertise in some area or other - just mine is not in the monster they call computers!!!!

I will try to now follow what you have - with endless patience - try to instruct me to do this time.

At the present moment the monsters is behaving itself fairly well, no taking it on it's self to start up, no freezing or greying out.

It is booting up so much faster since you told me how to spring clean startup.

It still tells me it is waiting for a programme in the background to close before shutting down although there are none open, but within about a minute it does close.

I will battle on with all your help.

Hello, when I follow the instruction to run SFC -SCANNOW Command
through the Elevated Command Prompt.
I get the above, not the picture shown on the tutorial

Check again in msconfig>Services, select Hide all MS services. Is anything then listed that you did not start yourself? If so, turn off it's updater or deselect to Start with Windows in its Program Preferences or Uninstall it.

It is mostly McAfee stuff , I did not actually start any of them that are on there!

MucAfee is one of the worst infections we see here. It really corrupts the OS in multiple ways.

Have you uninstalled MucAfee and replaced it with MSE or Avast 6 as suggested? Microsoft Security Essentials

If so, run CCleaner "Run Cleaner" and then Registry tab, clean up whatever Registry items it finds. CCleaner - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Now go back to msconfig>Services tab, Hide All MS Services, then trace the path for any remaining MucAfee registry keys or files which are starting with Windows and delete them. If they are Registry Keys, find them by typing regedit in Start Search box, rightclick on result to Run as Admin. Set a restore point first - you need to check if System Restore is working anyway: System Restore Point - Create. Then browse to the Reg Key via its tree and rightclick to Delete the exact key listed only.

Righty ho, so first thing I will do is unistall Mcafee, I already have Advast, will check it is the lastes but should be.

Hello, newbie stand back everyone :O)

I have just got a Lenovo G560 with windows 7 and since getting it two weeks ago no two days have been the same.
Programmes disappearing
screens greying out
will not shut down
takes a walk around the block and cook a roast time span to start up programmes
cannot repair messages
it goes on and on

I am totally bewildered, I seem to get over one little problem and then another smacks me in the moosh.

I am terrified I will start it up one day and everything has disappeared, I do backup important files on a external hard drive but that's not the point, I want to enjoy my computer and be able to rely on it, but at the moment I am getting a deep dislike for it.

I am not technically minded, so if any kind person has any suggestions as to what I might do to make me love it again, can they please put it in baby language.

Take it back, exchange it for a new one immediately ! You don't need this kind of aggrivation with a NEW computer
