Hey everyone, as you may already know that i had a previous thread (http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware...-ultimate-64-bit-motherboard-cpu-upgrade.html) asking which i should upgrade. I want to be upgrading the motherboard and the CPU, i need options on which i should upgrade and i want full details. my budget is around £90-140 for each of the parts. I'd be more then happy to take options from the users and specialists.

My current Specifications are;

OS
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit Operating System
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2 GHz
Motherboard
ASUS P5LP-LE
Memory
(1024MB DDR PC2-5300 X2) (1024 DDR PC2-6400 X2)
Graphics Card(s)
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (512MB DDR2 RAM)

Thank You

You didn't give us much to go on. What features are you looking for, exactly? Firewire interface? SLI compatibility? AMD, or Intel based? Chipset preference?

You need to be a lot more specific, as there are thousands to choose from. You might want to take a look over at Tigerdirect.com, or newegg.com. They probably have a motherboard & CPU combo/bundle you can get fitted into.

I don't really mind. Long as i get a good CPU and Motherboard, that's what it matters. I usally play my pc to play games, and design. I use intensive programs such as Photoshop, Sony Vegas, Maya Studios, ect. Mostly 3D Softwares.

I tried both of the website that you gave me, if you could find me a good CPU and a motherboard which is compatiable with the rest of the hardware i have, that'll be great!

Sure, no problem. What's your budget in US currency? And what specific hardware do you want the board to be compatible with?

Your graphics card is PCI Express x16...right?

By the way, I just looked at your RAM specs. You do know that your memory can only run as fast as your slowest bus speed don't you? I ask this because you have mismatched FSB's on your memory modules.

Here's a real nice motherboard & CPU combination: CLICK ME

Please note, that it has a locked multiplier though, which means your overclocking abilities will be limited. However, for what you want to do with the rig, that shouldn't be a problem at all. Besides, it has the black edition Phenom quad, which is plenty fast at stock settings.

I like the fact it has an onboard NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GT GFX chipset, along with hybrid SLI. So you only need one physical PCI Express GFX card.

My next rig will be very similar to this one. I'm sold on the NVIDIA GeForce Northbridge chipsets.

Yes, it has a PCI Express x16 slot for your graphics card, and takes DDR2 memory modules like the ones you already have.

Would i have to install a Clean OS after installing this motherboard?

Yes, you always want to do a clean install of the operating system when you change motherboards. It's sometimes possible to allow the operating system to load drivers for your new hardware setup, but I don't recommend it all.

I've successfully moved a hard drive that already had Windows on it, over to another motherboard, then booted from that drive, and had it actually working. However, I would NEVER do this for any other reason than experimentation. A clean install with a new motherboard is the only way to go, really.

Only if you understand exactly what your doing. Don't try overclocking without studying the subject exaustively. You could give your CPU, or FSB too much voltage, and trash your rig. I generally advise against it, because there are few people I run into that actually understand exactly what they are doing.

I happen to know how, and the principles behind it, but I've never ran my rig overclocked for very long. I'm not into gaming, so I don't need to overclock. I would rather have stability, as well as hardware longevity.

If you could find me the motherboard and CPU bundle on a European website, that'll be great. Such as Overclockers, Ebuyer, Amazon UK.

MadMaxData, i have fully researched on the products that you have mentioned, they are good i am very statified with them. But right now they are too expensive for me, however i will bare in mind about these products for the future. I play alot of games on my PC, and use for my pc for design. As you may already know my specification, are they good for now? if not, they please tell me how i can make tweak or optimize them to the full potential use of the hardware, which i currently have.

Thank you
