Reinstall windows or new hard drive, or ssd?

Hello my parents have an old dell latitude d630laptop that they use sometimes and it has been a little over a year since windows was last reinstalled on it.

Problem is, it's starting to get really slow and I'm doing tune-ups on it, but it still has a rough time watching videos. I'd really like my parents to use it more often and all but they use their phones a lot these days.

My question is: should I just reinstall windows 7 on it, get a new hard drive off of Amazon for 30 dollars (80gb since that's all they need), or do I get an ssd?

They are low on money since my mom lost her job but I'm really for the idea of a change on the laptop. Plus they always complain to me about it being slow too.

I'm even willing to do my weekly chores for free so they can buy a new hdd or ssd. What do I do?

I need another IT persons view on this. Thank you!

By the way I'm not an adult and still am in high school. I know some about computers I've gotten viruses, but not enough yet. I need college for this stuff.

This is the best thing to put in a older laptop forget about another slow hdd.

Just compare the stats of the BX100 and stay close

If it is an old laptop,it won't have sata 3, so any ssd will do. Reliability is the thing to look for.

You should upgrade to an SSD, everything will go blazing fast after the upgrade.

That's a dual core 2Ghz processor with 4GB of ram so a SSD should definitely help it run better.

I have been using this for budget replacments with no issue. I have one in an old vista era laptop and does well.

I would say to buy an SSD from a well-known company such as Kingston, Samsung etc.

If you buy for example a ripoff like Aptpop(not sure if i spelled it correctly) SSDs you will most likely not have any driver updates for the disk, it may fail alot quicker than a regular SSD etc. I got this ripoff graphics tablet 2 days ago and it has no driver updates at all, the current driver is very buggy(that's one thing that may occur if you buy ripoff things) and very unstable, i can deal with it though.
