Even with IE 8 I ran the 32bit version constantly. The other small note is on entering text after you press enter at the end of one line to see it skip two lines. When going to type anything...
you end up here instead of...
_here where you wanted to start the next line of text such as the next paragraph in a reply. You may run into some bcc code problems on older sites it would seem especially on some sites geared more for other browsers.

As for Speckie that would be the one seen at Speckie - spell check for IE now works with IE 9 according to the information seen on the home page.

I had an update for IE9 through Windows update yesterday and even after I cleared the dirty wall connection plug issue it's running faster and better than ever!!

Absolutely no problems at all in 32 or 64bit versions except for the Flash in the 64bit format.

I haven't seen any for IE 9 as of yet or simply missed when one went on. When going to check here one for the 64bit based 7 systems, one for Live Essentials, and another for the nic card's chip. The last IE update was seen for IE 8.

The SP1 RC Wave 0 went on twice following the 10/28 restoration of a system image and check for updates with that being seen 2 days later. The Wave 1 however is what had failed to go on. Under Installed Updates all that shows is the listing for IE 9 itself, the SP1 install, and several security updates there.

I'm a bit confused. Is Internet Explorer 9 now available through Windows Updates or is an update available for Internet Explorer 9?

IE 9 is the new version of IE you download and install separately. That will be seen in the Install Updates but isn't seen when going to check for Windows updates.

The updates to come for IE 9 will however come through the update site like any other would. Here's the main home page you would go to first. Internet Explorer - Microsoft Windows

Once you reach the download page(64bit Windows automatically detected at site) there will be a small check box asking if you want Bing set as the default search engine. Note the IE 9 installer will preserve all of your present security and personal IE settings including the Favorites bar arrangement when simply upgrading over IE 8 if you are presently running the previous version of the browser.

How do I open in a new window instead of a new tab with IE9?

You can eliminate tabbed browsing easily by going into the menu bar>Tools>Internet Options and clicking on the Settings button under Tabs. Once on the next screen simply uncheck the Enable Tabbed Browsing box seen at the top there. All new secondary pages will be seen in new windows.

As far as Adobe X that would be active X controls where you will be prompted to install them when first arriving at different sites at times. That's typical with any recent fresh install or upgrade of IE when you see that come up.

Computerworld - Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) again lost ground to Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome last month, even as the company launched its newest browser, Web metrics data showed today.
But Microsoft stands behind its decision to limit IE9 to users running Windows Vista and Windows 7.
"It was a very deliberate decision," said Ryan Gavin, senior director of IE, talking about the move to exclude XP users from IE9. "You simply can't build on something that is 10 years ago."
Gavin said that Microsoft "has no second thoughts" about its decision.
According to California-based Net Applications, one of several companies that regularly publishes browser usage data, IE lost nine-tenths of a percentage point of share in March, falling to 55.9%, another record low.
IE9, which debuted more than two weeks ago, accounted for 1% of all browsers, a five-tenths of a point jump over February.
But older editions of IE dropped by more than what IE9 gained

With the semiconductor market in shambles for at least the six month due to the meltdown in the land of the Rising Sun, I don't look for things to improve much for IE in terms of share over the next six months.

No I am talking about Adobe Acrobat X, the pdf website coverter isn't getting the whole webpage on when converting some webpages to pdf. And sometimes when you open a PDF from IE9 it puts it in a small window that you can't make fullscreen. Obviously it will be an Adobe issue to fix, but if IE9 is a fail they may not bother. Hope not.

So far I haven't opened more then a few pages like user manuals but didn't have any problems besides bringing text size up to 100% from 43%.

On the pages where you are having problems check to see if you are able to first download the file and read it locally from the drive. I've done that at times with IE 7 as well as 8 when a problem was seen reading from a web page.

No still not right I am talking about the Adobe AcrobatX Pro, the one I paid several hundred dollars for, not the reader. It integrates with IE, alows one to convert webpages to PDF, modify PDF's, etc.

Ok! You went for the full software package then not the free reader through the usual updates. That's what you didn't mention earlier and why I was looking at the other.

Unfortunately now you will have to wait for someone esle who also went for Acrobat X or look over the support site for any troubleshooting info that could help there. You could be running into some type of compatibility issue with the new version of IE as one possibility however. Adobe may have to release a patch or correct that in updates.

Speaking about pdf readers something came up regarding let's say a rumor for the next version of IE as well as Windows regarding MS including their own reader? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/04/05/windows_8_appx/

Hmmmm

I may be off track but I had problems with downloading SP1 and some other bits and pieces. Someone recommended I got the update readiness tool from M$.

Did that and I havn't had a problem since.

It may help but isn't going to harm anyway trying.
By the by make sure you pick the bit version you want from memory I downloaded 64 and 32 bit sections for 7.
